Auto market slows down, international auto giants are still ambitious

The big screen of the Shanghai Auto Show has already fallen. According to reports, in the first quarter of this year, sales of the Chinese car market fell slightly, while sales of the PSA Group reached 33,100 (including 8,200 for Peugeot and 24,900 for Citroën), an increase of 44% over the sales of 22,930 units for the same period in 2004. It is expected that the sales volume this year will be 115,000, of which 40,000 will be Peugeot.
Mr. Peugeot also highlighted the innovation and technology policy. For example, in terms of road safety, this is a very sensitive issue in China (the number of people killed in auto accidents reaches 100,000 each year). Mr. Peugeot reiterated the PSA Group’s positive measures: “The introduction of China on the No. 2 platform has made the safety performance of automobiles the most excellent". Mr. Peugeot also stressed the cooperation between Chinese and French technicians: The technical department of the joint venture company, Shenlong Motors, has 650 engineers.
