Product Description
1. Application
The choke manifold is an essential device used in oil and gas drilling operations to control well kicks and manage pressure effectively. It plays a crucial role in maintaining well control by allowing the controlled release of fluids during drilling, which helps prevent formation damage, enhances drilling efficiency, and ensures blowout prevention. The choke manifold connects to the side flange of the BOP spool, and when the BOP is closed, it regulates casing pressure by adjusting the choke valve opening, enabling balanced drilling under minimal pressure differential.
2. Configuration
 
        
The choke manifold consists of choke valves, gate valves, line pipes, fittings, pressure gauges, and other essential components.
3. Working Principles
When pressure inside the well increases, the choke valves (including manual, hydraulic, and positive chokes) on the manifold can be adjusted to release fluid, thus controlling the casing pressure. If the pressure becomes extremely high, the fluid can be directly released through the gate valve.
4. Pressure Ratings
The kill manifold is available in various pressure ratings such as 14MPa, 21MPa, 35MPa, 70MPa, and 105MPa, and can also be customized based on customer requirements.
5. Operating Instructions
(1) All components on the choke manifold must be compatible with the working pressure of the BOP stack being used.
(2) The choke manifold should be installed in an easily accessible location. A pressure test must be conducted before installation, and the seat test pressure should match the rated working pressure.
(3) The pipeline should be as straight and level as possible. For bends, use a 120-degree steel elbow, and ensure the bore size is sufficient.
(4) A pressure gauge must be installed for monitoring purposes.
(5) The choke manifold can operate in low-temperature conditions during winter.
