Exxon Mobil Launches New TPV
ExxonMobil Chemical has recently introduced two innovative grades of Santoprene thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) designed specifically for automotive applications. These materials enhance the visual appeal of exterior car components while offering a range of performance benefits. With a low specific gravity, they help reduce part weight, contributing to improved fuel efficiency. Their excellent resistance to aging ensures longer-lasting performance, and their low compression set minimizes deformation over time. Additionally, these TPVs can operate effectively across a wide temperature range, making them ideal for diverse environmental conditions.
As a pioneer in TPV technology, ExxonMobil has long been recognized for its leadership in automotive weather resistance. The company's latest TPV grades offer enhanced bonding capabilities, allowing them to be seamlessly integrated with thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) systems and traditional EPDM rubber profiles. This strong adhesion, combined with superior compression set properties, ensures reliable sealing performance. Moreover, the material’s good melt flow characteristics result in a smooth, glossy interior finish, eliminating the need for secondary coatings on corner moldings and reducing overall assembly costs.
The second new product is designed to match the aesthetic appearance of parts made from various thermoplastic or rubber materials. It offers flexibility in surface finish, enabling customization for gloss, sparkle, or matte effects. This versatility allows automakers to achieve consistent design quality across different components, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal. By combining performance with aesthetics, ExxonMobil continues to push the boundaries of what TPVs can achieve in modern vehicle manufacturing.
