In the first half of January, in accordance with the unified deployment of the Ministry of Railways, all railway administrations made serious preparations for the Spring Festival and organized implementation work, strengthened daily transportation organization, improved transportation efficiency, ensured the transportation of key materials, carried out smooth and orderly transportation of passengers and cargo, and had a good start.

In early January, the railway administrations took advantage of the passenger flow peaks on the New Year's Day holiday to enhance marketing and timely allocate the capacity according to changes in passenger flow, which promoted passenger traffic. During the small holiday period on New Year's Day, a total of 22.55 million passengers were sent by the national railways, an increase of 15.7% year-on-year. Among them, 6.057 million passengers were sent on January 3, and passengers sent a new high on the single day of the new year holiday. Driven by the small holiday, the national railways sent 4,818,000 tourists a day in the first half of January. Among them, the national railways sent 4,787,700 passengers on average every day. In the same period of last year, they had achieved a year-on-year increase of 07,000. From the point of view of each railway bureau (company), the Wuhan Railway Bureau increased by a maximum of 18.8%, followed by the Hohhot Railway Bureau, which increased by 9.8% year-on-year. The Shenyang, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Shanghai, and Nanchang Railway Bureaus all had varying degrees of growth.

In terms of freight, the railway department focused on strengthening the boundary depletion, emptying, and unloading, and actively promoted the transportation efficiency. The national railway transported 169,112 vehicles a day, and daily delivery of goods was 10.967 million tons. Among them, the national railways load 141,376 vehicles a day, an increase of 2,664 vehicles compared to last December. There are 11 railway bureaus (companies) that have different degrees of growth compared to the previous month, of which the Shenyang Railway Bureau and the Jinan Railway Bureau have a larger increase. At the same time, the railway sector also strengthened the transportation of key materials, with 43168 average daily loading capacity for electric coal, 868 excess monthly plans, 5,648 average daily grain loads, and 4657 average daily loading rates for chemical fertilizers.
