The results of the 2010 S&T Progress Award from China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation were announced a few days ago. The linear quench heat exchanger developed and designed by Tianhua Chemical Machinery and Automation Research and Design Institute won the third prize for scientific and technological progress. Quench heat exchanger is the key equipment in the ethylene cracker. At present, domestic and foreign generally adopt the linear quench heat exchanger with excellent process performance to replace the traditional quench heat exchanger. In order to achieve the international advanced level of quench heat exchanger technology for cracking furnaces in China, after years of efforts, the Institute has successfully developed a linear quench heat exchanger with independent intellectual property rights. Up to now, the linear quench heat exchanger developed by Tianhua Institute has applied more than 250 units in domestic petrochemical enterprises and has achieved good social and economic benefits.
