CBM as heavy truck fuel Jincheng builds “energy Shinkansen”

<

On the morning of the 17th, the CBM Energy Shinkansen project, a joint initiative by three companies from within and outside the province, was officially launched in Nancun Town, Zezhou County, Jincheng City. This milestone marks a significant step toward establishing a coal-bed methane (CBM) transportation and logistics network centered in Shanxi, with coverage extending across the entire North China region. The project aims to revolutionize the energy landscape for commercial vehicles by utilizing CBM as a cleaner and more efficient alternative to diesel. The initiative focuses on replacing diesel fuel in heavy-duty trucks with coal-bed methane, leveraging its high efficiency, energy savings, environmental friendliness, and low pollution levels. The goal is to create a comprehensive CBM-based transportation network, with Taiyuan at its core, connecting key cities such as Yinchuan, Shijiazhuang, Beijing, Hohhot, Xi’an, Zhengzhou, and others. Initially, the project will deploy 100 CBM-powered heavy trucks, launching two transport routes: Xiaoyi to Lishe and Xiaoyi to Hejin. According to the implementation plan, the project will add 1,000 CBM heavy trucks this year and retrofit 2,000 diesel trucks. This transition is expected to save approximately 200,000 tons of diesel annually and consume 300 million cubic meters of CBM. By 2010, tens of thousands of heavy trucks in the province were already operating on CBM, signaling a growing shift toward sustainable energy solutions in the transportation sector. The project not only supports environmental goals but also strengthens regional economic integration through improved logistics and energy efficiency.
