It's deeply saddening to hear about the loss of Chicago firefighter Andrew "Drew" Price, who tragically passed away while fighting a fire in a Lincoln Park building back on November 13th. At just 39 years old, Price had already served an impressive 14 years with the department, where he was widely admired as the driver of Truck 44. The funeral took place on Monday, drawing a sea of mourners to the Navy Pier’s Aon Grand Ballroom. The room was filled to capacity, each person there to offer their condolences, support, and solidarity to Price’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters. Known affectionately as a loving husband, brother, son, and uncle, Price was remembered not only for his professional dedication but also for his radiant personality that always seemed to bring positivity to those around him. In honor of Price’s memory, flags across the city have been ordered to fly at half-staff until sundown on November 20th. This marks the fourth line-of-duty death suffered by the Chicago Fire Department this year, a somber reminder of the risks these brave individuals take every day. Earlier this year, Lt. Kevin Ward lost his life in August while battling a fire in Norwood Park. Additionally, in April, two firefighters, Jermaine Pelt and Jan Tchoryk, also made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to separate emergencies within the city.
