According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, two children and their two babysitters managed to escape the home before dialing 911. Firefighters arrived on the scene and discovered two cats inside the house. The animals were safely rescued and received medical attention from paramedics. Local resident Tim Olk shared several photos capturing the aftermath of the incident. One image shows firefighters gathered outside the residence after the blaze was extinguished. Another photo highlights the moment paramedics provided care to the two cats that had been pulled from the burning building. A third picture features Winnetka's fire chief observing as one of the cats received treatment for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but no injuries were reported among the human occupants.
