The Northfield Fire Department was called to a basement fire on Monday evening at the 2300 block of Burr Oak. According to a report from the Chicago Tribune, two children and their two babysitters managed to escape the home before dialing 911. Firefighters arrived on the scene and discovered two cats inside the house. The animals were safely rescued and received medical attention from paramedics.
Local resident Tim Olk shared several photos capturing the aftermath of the incident. One image shows firefighters gathered outside the residence after the blaze was extinguished. Another photo highlights the moment paramedics provided care to the two cats that had been pulled from the burning building.
