Market sources said on Thursday that Asian nylon chip makers are expected to further reduce operating rates because of lower downstream demand and lower raw caprolactam prices. The market for nylon chips is extremely bad, because most spot buyers take a wait-and-see attitude, and a few buyers only buy the lowest quantity of products to meet immediate needs.
According to ICIS prices, due to the weakening of the market, the spot price of nylon chips fell by 50-80 USD/ton on June 22 to 2800-2850 USD/ton CFR China. In addition, in China and Taiwan, raw material caprolactam market transactions continued to decline, this week's closing price has reached a three-month low. On June 23, the price of caprolactam in Asia fell by 50-170 US dollars / ton to 2350-2380 US dollars / ton CFR Taiwan, and 2330-2380 US dollars / ton CFR China, and 2350-2450 US dollars / ton CFR Northeast Asia.
According to market sources, due to poor sales has forced Taiwan's major nylon chip makers to reduce their 1000 t/d plant output by nearly 40% over the past two weeks. Zigsing Industrial Co., Ltd. also plans to close the 150,000/ton plant in Taiwan for maintenance in early July. If the demand remains weak, an informed source said.
