New rehab unit for the Chicago Fire Department

The Chicago Fire Department (IL) recently acquired a new mobile rehab vehicle, which has been outfitted with top-of-the-line components and innovative features. Built on a Freightliner MT-55G chassis, this unit is powered by a robust TQS 308HP V8 engine and paired with an Allison 2200HS automatic transmission. The entire body is crafted from durable aluminum, featuring Extreme Duty storage compartments for optimal gear organization and a custom aluminum flip-down step for easy access. To provide shade during outdoor operations, we installed a power-retracting awning on the curbside. Additionally, a Rosco Vision 360° camera system has been integrated for enhanced visibility. The rear of the vehicle houses an Igloo 5-gallon water dispenser, securely mounted using a truck-mount bracket.
Step inside, and you'll notice a sliding cab divider door that adds functionality and privacy. The interior includes a single workstation equipped with a commercial-grade cabinet, complete with a dry erase board on the cabinet door for notes or planning. Fixed bench seats are positioned along both the driver and passenger sides, while overhead ceiling grab bars ensure safety during transit. For climate control, dual Klimaire mini-split heat pump systems have been installed, complemented by ventilation fans. In colder months, a direct-discharge furnace takes care of heating needs. Powering the vehicle is an Onan Commercial Quiet gas generator, ensuring ample electrical supply. We also prewired the vehicle for communication radios, making it ready for real-world applications.
