Skokie responds to man trapped under a car
This past week, Jeff Rudolph shared some images from a call he responded to in Skokie, along with a detailed account of what happened. Here's his description:

On August 30th at around 3 PM, I received a dispatch about a potential child trapped under a vehicle in the 7700 block of Kilbourn Avenue. The initial response from Skokie included a full extrication team—two engines, a truck company, the squad unit, an ambulance, and the battalion chief. By the time they arrived, it turned out to be an adult male who was slightly intoxicated. He had raised one side of his car using a jack and crawled under to fix his exhaust system. Unfortunately, he got stuck under there, and when his friend (who was also tipsy) tried to help, things only got worse.
When Squad 18 arrived, they stabilized the vehicle by chocking it and then used airbags to carefully lift the car enough for him to slide out. Thankfully, he only suffered minor abrasions and declined medical transport. His exhaust issue remained unresolved though, so he’d have to deal with that later.
Attached are some photos I took during the incident. You can see Tower Ladder 16 and Battalion 16 on scene as part of the支æ´. It’s always interesting to witness how quickly these situations can unfold and how well-trained our firefighters are in handling such scenarios.
