Hafei Motor: Aircraft Manufacturing Plant Makes China's First Micro Card

<

Turning over the history of the world’s automobiles, people will find that: Rolls-Royce, BMW, Fiat, Mitsubishi and other auto giants are inextricably linked with the aviation industry. It is precisely because of the special relationship between the aviation industry and the automotive industry in terms of technology and human resources. When China's first microcar was born at Harbin Aircraft Industry Co., Ltd., everything was reasonable afterwards.

"Half-to-People" Hafei Rebuilds Car

The "marriage" between Hafei and the automotive industry can be described as a long-standing process. As far back as 1957, Hafei had produced the "Songhua River" brand bus. At that time, it was famous in the country. By the time the production ceased in 1961, more than 1,000 vehicles had been produced. In addition to Heilongjiang Province, it also sold well in 24 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions such as Beijing, Sichuan, Guangxi, and Xinjiang, and was designated as a product of the Spring Canton Fair in 1958. Since then, the "Songhua River" brand and the automotive industry have forged a bond with Hafei.

In the tide of the old economic system of the market economy, the "Songhuajiang" brand car that stopped production in the year was "back to life." In 1980, before the severe shortage of aviation missions, Hafei people did not rely on it. According to the relevance of the industry, they began to adjust the strategic structure of “preserving the military and changing people” and chose to enter the auto industry again. But this is not a simple copy of history. When they made this decision, they actually started a new era of the Harbin automobile industry.

Avoid "heavy" and "light" vehicle shaping

When Hafei decided to re-produce the car, a battle of models followed. At this time, the Chinese automobile market has already begun to show a prosperous trend. It was suggested that Hafei should develop medium-priced passenger vehicles with high prices. At that time, the Ministry of Aviation Industry of Hafei's competent authority reviewed the situation and pointed out that the domestic automobile market was "less light and light," and Hafei had no advantage over the old heavy-duty automobile manufacturers. There were not many mini-car manufacturers that were more suitable for China's national conditions. As a result, Hafei chose to develop micro-loaded vehicles as a "starting work" for them to re-enter the automobile production field.

With the close industrial relationship between aviation work and automobile industry, Hafei began the development of the first domestic micro-carrying vehicle by referring to internationally advanced mini truck production technology at that time. In a spot welding room of a 30-meter-long, 15-meter-wide old workshop, a group of elite soldiers who are longer than aircraft manufacturing will be on the road to automobile development. They completed the design in a short period of time, compiled more than 900 procedures and designed more than 1,000 pieces of manufacturing equipment. On July 25, 1982, after two years of research and development, China's first micro-loading vehicle - "Songhua" brand micro-carrying vehicles completed the assembly, and passed the ministerial appraisal in 1983.

Leading the Ice City into the era of car production

It is from that time on that Hafei Motors was closely associated with the Chinese national automobile industry.

With the sales of micro-vehicles, the original production capacity has not met the needs of market competition. Hafei has carried out three large-scale technological transformations. Especially with the spring breeze of revitalizing national debt projects in the old industrial bases in northeast China, they completed a technical transformation project for passenger cars and had a production capacity for cars. On April 7, 2005, the first sedan produced by Harbin, the Saibao III, was born in Hafei, and the ice city automobile industry entered the car production era.

From the start of minicar trucks, from the production of mini vehicles to the production of nearly 100 varieties of five major series, including mid- to high-class cars, the total output of Hafei Automobile now exceeds 2 million units; starting from a small workshop-style automobile production workshop, Hafei Automotive Co., Ltd. China's top ten automobile sales charts; Hafei Motors Group has emerged from the aviation industry and has become a well-known car manufacturer specializing in professional and independent research and development of its own brand cars. It continues to practice the dream of rejuvenating the national auto industry industry.
