National chemical colleges in energy conservation and emission reduction in action
A few days ago, Beijing University of Chemical Technology North Campus organized a major theme lecture for students focused on environmental protection and resource utilization, officially launching the school's "Energy-Saving and Emission-Reduction Campus Action." This initiative marks a significant step in promoting sustainable practices within the institution. In recent months, several top chemical engineering universities across China, including Beijing Institute of Chemical Industry, Nanjing University of Technology, Shenyang Institute of Chemical Technology, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, and East China University of Technology, have also initiated similar campus-wide energy-saving and emission-reduction campaigns.
Nanjing University of Technology has been particularly proactive in this area, establishing the School of Environment and the Energy Institute to further support research and education in sustainability. These efforts reflect a growing awareness among educational institutions about the importance of environmental responsibility.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Education issued an official notice urging all levels of schools to implement "Energy-Saving and Emission-Reduction Campus Actions." The goal is to raise awareness among students—accounting for about one-fifth of the population—about energy conservation and environmental protection, encouraging them to develop habits that promote sustainability. In response, national chemical academies and universities quickly launched various programs tailored to the campaign, aiming to build a culture of energy efficiency and environmental care through educational activities, lectures, and interactive events.
