Hi there,
I just wanted to share something really interesting I recently came across. A few months back, I ran into the guy who owns this old ambulance that used to belong to the La Grange Fire Department. He mentioned that after serving the fire department, it was transferred to the police department before eventually being sold off at a public auction. The owner told me he was considering restoring it but hadn’t started yet. Recently, I got the chance to see this vehicle again and managed to snap some photos. Big thanks to Bill Friedrich for helping me locate his original photo. It’s a 1970s Chevy Suburban.
I’ve included a few images below to give you an idea of what it looks like today. These were taken by Martin Nowak, and they really capture the essence of this classic rig. You can tell it has quite a history behind it, and I’m sure it holds plenty of stories if only it could talk!

It’s fascinating how these vehicles transition from one role to another over time. If anyone has any additional details about its journey or knows more about its current state, I’d love to hear from you!
Take care,
