Working fire in Park Ridge, 12-13-14
I just witnessed an interesting fire incident last Saturday evening. It started out as a decent-sized smoke plume when I arrived on the scene, but by the time I managed to get into a good vantage point, the fire had already been brought under control. From what I could gather, it seemed to be an attic fire that was initially tackled using a large hose line from the exterior. They also deployed two additional crosslays to ensure complete extinguishment. What caught my attention was how the quint (a multi-purpose fire vehicle) was functioning more like an engine, supplying water to all the lines. I’m guessing either they were the first responders on the scene or possibly one of their engines was unavailable for some reason. I’ve always found these kinds of operations fascinating because they highlight the versatility of modern firefighting equipment. Even though my view wasn’t ideal, it sounded like they did a great job containing the fire before it spread further.

This whole setup reminded me why I love capturing these moments. Firefighting is such a dynamic field, and seeing how quickly they can adapt to different scenarios is truly impressive. It’s not often you get to see a quint being used strictly as an engine, so that was a nice touch. Overall, it seems like they made a solid effort to prevent any major damage, which is always the goal. I hope everyone involved stayed safe throughout this incident.
I’ll keep an eye out for updates if there’s anything more to share about this particular case. Until then, I’ll continue snapping photos whenever I come across something noteworthy. Let me know if you need any more details or specific shots from the event!
