Shanxi Yangmei Group successfully modified electronically controlled dual fuel vehicles
April 15, Taiyuan, Xinhua News Agency — Zhou Leyi reports that the Transportation Branch of Shanxi Yangmei Group has recently completed the modification of several electronically controlled dual-fuel vehicles, combining natural gas and diesel. This innovative approach marks a significant step in the company's efforts to promote clean energy usage and reduce environmental impact.
The modified vehicles are based on traditional diesel-powered models. To enhance fuel efficiency, six gas cylinders, each with a capacity of 30 cubic meters, are installed beneath the vehicle. These cylinders work in conjunction with the existing diesel system, supplying fuel in a 50-50 ratio of natural gas and diesel. The combustion process takes place through in-cylinder mixed combustion, ensuring optimal performance while minimizing emissions.
He Suli, deputy manager of the Coal-Bed Methane Development and Utilization Branch at Yangmei Group, emphasized the importance of this transition. "By integrating clean energy into our vehicle fleet, we're not only reducing fuel costs but also significantly lowering carbon emissions," he said. So far, the company has successfully converted five diesel vehicles, with plans to gradually increase the proportion of natural gas in the fuel mix. The long-term goal is to completely replace diesel with natural gas, further supporting sustainable development and environmental protection.
