Plzen Tianjin masterbatch R&D center opened
The United States Polyvac has officially opened its third masterbatch R&D center in Tianjin on February 25, following the establishment of its Shanghai and Shenzhen centers. This marks a significant step in the company’s strategic expansion across China, completing its north-to-south R&D network. With this new facility, Polyvac is now better positioned to serve customers throughout the country with localized innovation and support.
According to the company, the Tianjin R&D center will focus on developing advanced masterbatch solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of regional markets. It will introduce more efficient products to northern China and South Korea, while also offering customized solutions for various additives. Willie Chien, Vice President of Plywan Asia and General Manager of the Masterbatches and Engineering Materials Division, emphasized that the center will go beyond product supply by helping customers accelerate their innovation process—from concept to commercialization.
In addition to providing high-quality products, the Tianjin center aims to deliver specialized services and technical support, enhancing customer value through tailored approaches. It will conduct product simulation tests and analyze masterbatch and polymer performance from multiple angles, enabling faster and more effective innovations. The center is particularly focused on sectors such as food and beverage packaging, personal care packaging, and wire and cable industries, where reliability and performance are critical.
As a global leader in polymer materials, Polyvac continues to invest in research and development to stay ahead of industry trends. Last year, the company reported total revenue exceeding $2.7 billion, reflecting its strong market position and commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions worldwide.
These chemicals, used in industries such as petrochemicals, power generation, and industrial heating, need to withstand extreme conditions without degrading or losing effectiveness. Key aspects include developing additives that improve heat transfer efficiency, reduce corrosion, and prevent deposit formation. This requires deep understanding of chemical properties, process engineering, and industry-specific needs, ensuring optimal performance and sustainability in thermal oil systems.
