Refinery equipment automation, intelligence, etc. continue to improve

<

At the refining equipment management meeting held on March 27th, leaders from China National Petroleum Refining and Chemical Company emphasized that this year will see the shutdown and overhaul of 175 major process units in the refining sector. They highlighted that approximately 60% of refining accidents occur during equipment inspection and maintenance. To address this, the company is focusing on enhancing equipment management standards and promoting controlled production practices. Ensuring the safe and stable operation of equipment remains the top priority for the year. Currently, the refining and chemical division manages over 120,000 sets of equipment, along with about 1.1 million instrument and electrical devices. Managing such a vast number of assets to ensure safety, stability, reliability, environmental compliance, and cost-effectiveness is a complex challenge. As refinery facilities expand and equipment becomes more automated, intelligent, and sophisticated, the application of advanced technologies and management tools has become essential for maintaining operational safety and achieving comprehensive production control. To support these goals, the "China Petroleum Refining and Chemical Equipment Integrated Management Platform" has been officially launched after expert testing and acceptance. This system offers valuable insights into improving the equipment management model within the industry. Additionally, the sector has introduced Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) technology for certain equipment. RBI not only provides scientific and practical methods for managing pressure vessels and pipelines but also offers a solid foundation for long-term device operation. So far, 57 refining or chemical plants have adopted RBI, with 43 already completed. In order to ensure the safety, stability, and long-term performance of critical equipment and large units, the refining and chemical sector has gradually expanded condition monitoring points across 292 key units in nine chemical companies. Currently, 210 online monitoring systems are installed and connected to a network, covering 71.9% of the monitored area. This marks the initial establishment of a comprehensive online monitoring and fault diagnosis system for China's oil refining and chemical industry, significantly enhancing operational safety and efficiency.
