Baling petrochemical thermal power fly ash turning waste into treasure
The Baling Petrochemical Thermal Power Division has made full use of fly ash, a by-product of power generation, turning waste into valuable resources. Since its commissioning in 2000, the sales volume of fly ash has grown significantly, from an initial 2,000 tons to 210,000 tons in 2007. To date, the cumulative sales have reached 850,000 tons, contributing greatly to revenue and profitability.
However, challenges arose due to the poor quality of coal used in the plant, which made it difficult to collect ash efficiently. In response, the department set a clear goal: "zero discharge" of ash slag. To achieve this, they implemented equipment upgrades and optimized boiler combustion conditions. Through continuous testing and timely adjustments of operational parameters, the boilers were kept in optimal condition for stable performance. At the same time, strict inspections of ash collection systems were enforced to ensure no ash was lost.
In March of last year, the department successfully produced secondary fly ash, with some products meeting national standards and gaining popularity among high-end customers. The sales of secondary ash alone generated nearly one million yuan in revenue last year, demonstrating the effectiveness of their efforts in improving both environmental sustainability and economic returns. This achievement not only enhances the company’s reputation but also highlights its commitment to innovation and resource efficiency.
